Any tricks for expanding RAM?

I keep running out of memory on my Simpad HPC, and there is no (cheap) way to buy ram expansion. I use a Sandisk Wifi+128MB cf on my HPC, and have plenty of storage room on it.

Is there some way to "trick" the HPC into using the storage card as extra ram (like virtual memory disk-caching or ramdisk on low-ram Win98 machines).

No there isn't alas. WinCE doesn't handle memory in the same way as its big brother. The file system is more of a big mapped out database. There is no swapping or paging under it.

You can of course install all non-boot/driver applications to CF, move the Internet cache over to the CF, increase the application (program) memory, reducing the storage memory.

Not that I am aware of. Do you currently have near 100% allocation of internal RAM to Program Memory?

When I surf on my Simpad, certain sites seem to cause my program ram to get eaten up. I went to an ebay site, and watched my mem bar - my "used" memory shot up past 43MB!

The only other things could think of corresponding to this could be the JEM-CE EVM. Since it's based on the Esmertec JVM, it tends tobe a bit of a mem hog.

move the Internet cache over to the CF

How do I redesignate where the I-cache resides?

You need to hit the registry. Before you do though, make sure to setup the directory first.

Exit IE and all windows explorer sessions

HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
String: Cache, Cookies, History

Immediately soft reset after changes. If it worked, you will see your path in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Setting\Cache\Paths & its 4 sub-keys after you have run MSIE.
