BSquare : Without Vodafone Today screen

Hi ,

What do you think of my new today screen ?
I hate that Vodafone thing, so I decided to write a little program, to hide Vodafone's today application window.
And I added some new features to display phone signal strength, and missed calls notifications.
No registry modification is needed, and the taskbar remains the same.
The registry hacking changes taskbar to the thin standard ce .net one.
I don't like that

What did you use to write it, some sort of process interception?

I just set Desktop window ( original ce .net ) state to visible, and MauiToday windows to hidden.
Then appplied subclassing
I used subclassing for Desktop " DesktopExlorerWindow", and for the original Vodafone today screen's phone window .

I had to take control over DesktopExplorerWindow because always received hide messages. ( because the vodafone today's windows are still alive, and maybe don't like Dalí ? ) I just ignored these messages.


EVC's remote spy tool was very useful to determine which message goes to original phone window on signal change and missed calls. I handled these messages in my program ( draw text on desktop window) then I passed them to the original vodafone today's phone window ( hidden at this point) procedure.

Further plans :

- SMS notification on desktop
- Calendar items on the desktop
- Maybe background wallpaper changer ?

it'd be real nice if you could host the files, he has a lot of other stuff in development for the bsquare! they have made it a much nicer experience to use the bsq.

a program that is call "exbph" had same functions.release at a chinese website had long time.
*Change vodaphone today and desktop don't need modify register and restart
*Transparent desktop icon text background
*Change wallpage don't need modify register and restart

*set the wallpage to tile or full
*set to autostart or not

I'm not a PHH person myself, but that page you linked to is a real bonanza! There are several different programs available to download off that forum listing alone.

Hmm, now I'm tempted to go get a PHH.

I will rebuild a english version for your. hope your like.

OK, I think it's time to show you something
That's what I have now

Features :

- Vodafone today change without restart, just cab installation is needed
- Transparent desktop icon text background
- Wallpaper change (tile or full ) without restart
- Desktop icon text color setting

- Settings are integrated into Desktop tap and hold menu
- No flashing Voda today on soft reset ( with exbph the old today is displayed for a little time on soft reset )
- Integrated Backlight changer application
- Appointments on Desktop ( changeable font size, font color , position)
- SMS counter + missed calls counter in the bottom of the desktop

Known limitations:
------------------------

- Only all day and simple appointments are supported this time.
No recurring appointments. Will correct this soon, but I have time for nothing nowadays
- SMS counter : It seems that it's working, but I don't have enough SMSes to test it correctly...
