Hi everyone,

I'm looking to do a straight swap of a nice condition, and fully working Orinoco Gold WiFi card (Agere chipset) in its original box (a bit battered) with CD and user guide, for a working Compact Flash (CF) WiFi card that must be compatible with H/PC 2000 and WinCE 2.x. A PCMCIA to CF type II adapter would be nice, but not important

Anyone in the UK looking to do such a trade can PM me through here, or send an email to alexquant at yahoo.co.uk.

Thanks!

Alex.

Now sorted - I've obtained a Senao NL-2511 Compact Flash WiFi adapter that works perfectly with a Jornada 720.

wow, you sure it is not the SL2511-CF (check on card bottom)? then you'd have the same card as me.

*checks* .. yep, its an "NL-2511CF" which works perfectly with the reference Prism 2.5 drivers. The Orinoco was good, but stuck out far too much - more so than another generic PCMCIA wireless card. So, I reasoned, I'll go for a CF card and a PCMCIA adapter - then, when I bung the 720 in my rucksack I don't have to worry too much about snapping the end off the wireless card

If you like, I can scribble out the "NL" and replace it with "SL" if it makes you feel better?

I don't know, cmonex. I had a look at the specs for both models, and they appear identical. Maybe "N" means nice, and "S" means smelly ..

I notice these WiFi cards are type I CF, and not the thicker type II as I expected - have you tried your card in a PCMCIA adapter, and if so, what type of adapter is it (type I or II)?

Thanks,

Alex.

The Agere ORiNOCO Gold mentioned above will - and a lot of others. Check the Hardware Compatibility List in this site. (Link is "Hardware & Accessories" on the home page.)
