Plus! and Power Toys .cab files

I downloaded the .exe files for Plus! and Power Toys for HPC Pro from Microsoft. I was planning on extracting the .cab files to my flash card using WinRAR and installing from there, because I don't want to use ActiveSync to install them.

My problem is that there are three .cab files in both programs:
_sys1.cab
_user1.cab
data1.cab

Do I extract all of them or one? If all, which file do I run first? Can I even do it using the .cabs only or do I have to use ActiveSync?

I have a Mobilepro 780.

none of these cab's. winrar won't work in this case. you have to run the exe's and get the cabs from under program files or from under activesync's folder

I couldn't figure it out, so that's what I ended up doing. It worked out okay thanks to my nifty infrared.

Thanks.

These are not Microsoft cabgen cabinet files, they just happen to be compressed archives with the same extension. They use a proprietary compression algorithm owned and developed by Macrovision. Despite trying many, many times to crack them open I have never been successful.

You will have to use ActiveSync to pull them out.

If someone wanted, couldn't they just copy the files off of an HPC after installing them and create a standard cab file for future use?

Why bother, once you've installed them onto the host PC, just copy them from the install point.

I was thinking that creating a standard cab file would make it easy to restore something if on the road away from your hpc...no other computer would be necessary, just install the cab from a cf card or something....

but the cab already exists just run setup.exe included with those data1... data2... cabs, and that's all (it will extract the real CE cabs)

I had extract data1.cab from 128-bit HPC and got 1 file called "schanell.dll".

I replaced the HPC schanell.dll and didn't worked good.
Then I tryed to hexedit the DLL file. It doesn't a valid DLL

Ok
I ran the setup app and went to "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft ActiveSync\128-Bit Encryption Pack\" and found 4 CAB files with the same DLL file into them.

But this DLLs worked good!!!

I understood that extract installation CAB files sometimes doesn't work...
Now I run setup file and copy the files from ActiveSync path...

Derek, you are referring to something else. You've inflated a Microsoft CAB file, we are talking about installshield cab's here, not cab inflation.

Yes I'm talking Install Shield CAB Files (too) Yes, Microsoft CABs can be inflated, but Install Shield I haven't tested...
