i have used about 10 HPCs. i have never used wince 2 hpc and do not intend 2 do so coz wince2 is very slow handling Chinese (multi-byte characters). I have never used a hpc with a cpu lower than 100mhz.

Now i am buying a Clio 1000. I know CPU Frequency is not everything in HPC's performance, but it at least plays a large role.

I know c-1050 is quite good and c-1000 is definitely slower than 1050. but how slow is c1000 compared 2 c1050?

My goals for c1000. at least not too slow to open up pocket word excel, etc. and haalireader, i suppose. will probably add a cf wifi to it and view some pda/text-only websites on c1000 (in the future coz still no a cf wifi card with good range/receive power)

i know senao sl-2511 ext plus2 is great with 200mw receive power. but 2 difficult 2 find and may be not safe? btw, kinda easy to find a pc card version

I own a C-1000, but have not been priviledged to having used a C-1050. I will tell you this though, I think the machine is snappy for the hardware inside. The other thing is too, you mention you want to use a CF wifi card with it. This'll be a problem because the CF slot on BOTH the 1000 and 1050 are located in the battery compartment (dumb, I know). The PCMCIA slot is however on the side of the base.

There is at least one other thread asking about the comparison between the C-1000 and the C-1050. The diffs:

C-1000: 80 MHz, 16 MB RAM
C-1050: 168 MHz, 32 MB RAM

Hope this helps.

I have extra 32mb memory cards for 1050. If you want I can send it to you and you can see if it will work in a 1000

yes. i already know that. thanks for ur info.

hmmm, probably have to exclude c1000 for my wifi plan coz 84mhz (? or 80mhz) could not deliver performance in wifi+ Chinese web pages browsing.

CMA371, thanks for ur help. I am living far far away from u and this sounds quite impossible.
