I have a HP Journada 680 with a Linksys Wireless Laptop Card WPC11 PCMCIA 802.11B which has been setip and is working with my home wireless LAN (ie it shows connection and link status of 100%).

I have setup my own static IP address within the range allowed as DHCP does not seem to work (get no response) and I can ping that address (192.168.0.13) and get a response.

I cannot ping the router default gateway however and there seems tp be no transmitted packets recorded only recieved packets on the link.
However my other machins work fine inc wifi on a laptop with the router.

I cannot get IE to find any ip address or website.
If dirver is setup and logged on, the setup must be correct, so how come I cannot conect to anything?

I'm having the exact same problem with an Orinico Gold card. I've even tried different driver versions with no luck.

there has to be some simple little setting thats keeping this from working.

Also, which brand name ORiNOCO Gold card are you using, Kabuto (Lucent, Agere, Avaya, or Proxim)?

hmm, what are those dns servers? how about replacing one of them with the router's address (192.168.0.1)?

what happens if you try DHCP?

anyway maybe you have the wrong revision of the linksys card

Tried DHCP before and could not get a response.
I have also tried putting the gateway address (router) into dns and that does not work.
I have also had a long (1.5 hrs) Live chat with Linksys support which I am guessing is based in India as the guy Kareen B. (18742) not only had bad english, but could not answer simple question like why when I download a driver dated 2003 from your site, do I get one dated 2002?
He could not grasp that I have a working connection to a router (link status of 100%, return address etc) and that I could not see any TX packets being counted. RX Packets count varied from 400-1200.
Thus no Internet connection or connection to other PC's in same IP range on my ethernet cable.
Kept asking
"what is the problem?"
"am I using Windows XP?"
"what is Windows CE 2.11?"
"Have I tired loading the drivers on another PC?"
"Have I tried putting the adaptor in another slot?" There is only one!
Have I tried downloading the latest drivers?
It seems support cannot do this!
He said he would come in an disable my firewall and directly access my H/PC. I said it was firewalled, I did not want to embarass the guy by pointing out that he could not see anything as the link is down!!!
So far Linksys have the driver listed as
Driver Date: 5/30/2003
Driver Release Version: 1.7.37.1098 (WinCE Driver)
Driver File Size: 4.03 MB

but what you get is a file in a zip with the followinf info
Name: Linksys WPC11 forWinCE.exe
Type: Application
File size: 4,385,759
Packed size: 4,194,699
Ratio: 4%
Modified: 03/05/2002 23:10
Path: WPC11v3WinCE Driver
CRC: 769616E2
which is a driver version 1.7.29

I cannot get them to believe that their description is wrong!
Any Journada 680 users still out there using wi-fi?

Is there a HP perculiarity that is tripping me up? I know HP dialup network setups can overwrite drivers, but is this the cause?

Problem solved!
The answer is to toggle the WEP encryption to 128 bit, then rescan, it will reset it back to disabled (recieved from router). Rescan is on the front page, encryption is on another tab of the config facility provided by linksys.
Works a treat! I can access hotmail and yahoo over my wireless connection even if the activesynch cable is connected.

Forgot to mention TX packets count still remains at zero, looks like they have got a bug there!
