Try putting explorer.exe under the \windows folder and soft reset the device.

In the regestry try and see what is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> init

Sort of getting somewhere now...found a desktop based ce registry tool that lets me in!
init has this in it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\initepend30
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\initepend60
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\initepend70
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch10 which is shell.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch20 which is device.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch30 which is GWES.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch60 which is explorer.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch70 which is GpsMc.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch9999 which is miaautorun\launch.exe

that last bit is an unlock for miopocket that was no doubt involved in causing the problem to start off with

init also has a seperate folder inside called Bootvars which contains:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init\BootVars:Flags
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init\BootVarsrofileDir
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init\BootVars:RegistryFlags
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init\BootVars:SystemHive

bated breath time...

make sure that alle thows files are in the windows folder, can you post a picture of how your device looks when it has started and is connected to the pc.

you might want to remove 9999

also it would be best if you did't put the img tags around the links.

Your windows folder seams very... empty

starting it up with the original sd card fitted just shows the goodmans logo on the thundery sky...with another card i have (copy of original plus the miopocket unlock and other bits) it'll move onto a win ce desktop.If I then connect to a computer and disconnect I can select my computer from the desktop using the rocker switch but once I do none of the following folders are highlighted for selection unless I connect and disconnect from the pc again...hmm,thats interesting,doing this shows more stuff inside the windows folder than browsing using explorer..there's loads of dll's,bmp's,wav's and some file extensions I'm not familiar with...would all this be the stuff you were surprised to see missing from that picture?

yes thows where probably the files i was looking for.

well it sounds like your device is waiting fore some software to start befor it moves on to fully start, and that software is on your one sd card.

ill have to look closer on your dependancys later to see if that has some thing to do with it.

Can someone please help me?i was so supid to remove the"fAskDest" in stead of cutting it in the KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apps\Microsoft Application Installer. I've got the commander running but i can't install the windows-ce4.2. I have tried several registryeditors but i can't get them to run in the "commander"program.
is there some way to inject or copy fAskdest back in the regestry, or is there a other way to get the explorer on?

hi Ajembo, i have delete by mistake the driver folder in the register of the axxion, and now I cant access the sd card, do yuo have suggestions?

Can you access the main drive on the device via activ sync (or computer if you run vista), in not then see if you can get a remote registry editor to work (there are some good once mentioned just abouve this post).

I can't access the drive with activesinc, the device starts up, but the sd card can't be accessed, I wanted to unhide the registry files in order to replace the actuals with the backups if there are any, for example the system.dat, however the soft input panel isn't working. as well.
I can run the command prompt, but I can't issue the command [attrib –r –h –s –a system.*].
I'm sad

The main memory/drive, is not an SD Card, do you have access to it when you hook up the device to your pc?
Did you try one of the remote registry programs?
Registry Workshop and CeRegistryEditor are two good registry editor that you might beable to use to solve this issue.
