| I picked up a Japanese HPC (The Hitachi HPW-600JC), it's my latest little project to play with. It has an SH-4 processor which I know can be hard to find software for. Can anyone recommend any good places to look for freeware/shareware for it? |

| Depends what you are looking for; the software is out there, but it will require a search and some of the software will be found in the most unlikeliest of places. A lot of SH4 software was compiled in Europe or Asia.
Utilities:
Most of Tascal's HPC software was compiled with an SH4 CAB (Tascal Pocket Explorer, Tascal Gauge-a metric-imperial conversion program, Tascal Regisstry Edit and Tascal Calculator)
NEC Clik- a USB mass storage driver for HPC's
EZunzip-zip program
Flash Format-a storage card format application
Tillanosoft's Smalltweak, Pocket notepad and Findspace (Spacefind?)
Mobipocket
ubook
Games:
All games at thievesandkings.com
brickslider at ballshooter.com
Conquest at magnodyne.com (a Risk style game)
Theses are just a few from the top of my head that I was running on my old eplate. |

| Hello, fellow Hitachi Eplate lover.
First start at the Hitachi site and support for your device. Then scout through Handheld Attitude (link found at the Home page here on this site) - at Handheld Attitude you will now find the Tascal software for HPC. Look for other sites mentioned in these forums. Also try Tucows under Windows CE software.
Good luck! |

| You are better off with ubook. There is a Mobipocket at Tucows that will install, I believe, on sh4 - but once you got it to sync - you will read better the news files with Ubook at Gowerpoint.com |

| PM me with an email address I can send files to and, tomorrow or very late tonight-not at home, I'll check my files and see what I still have for Mobipocket and an older version of ubook.
In fact once I get home I'll make an inventory of what I still have and it can be made available to anyone who wants it. Since my eplate died , I've unfortunately had no use for the software. Edited by YOM 2006-09-04 5:13 PM

| Dexxta makes an IRC client for HPCs, Splatter, that has an SH4 binary... You can download Splatter here: http://fluffy.4ss.net/

This has nothing to do with this thread, but the short answer is no. |

See the download section, Hitachi had a version specifically compiled for SH4. The eplate was intended to be the Cadillac of handhelds and Hitachi supported it that way. The SH4 version of Jot keyboard is better than the version I am running right now on my Fujitsu tablet (MIPS-HPC2000 ). The control panel has applets that I haven't seen in any other machine. Afraid not, my eplate is now a paperweight. Maybe someone else can though. |
