Hi.

An interesting device that is well known to Japanese Windows CE users:

Pocket Post Pet!

The Pocket Post Pet was actually not sold as a Windows CE device, but under some tweaking, you can run Windows CE 2.12! Unlike H/PC Pro, it does not have all the "Start" button and etc, but with many utilities, you can make it look like an expensive H/PC

Pocket Post Pet includes a keyboard and a color display, and can be bought very cheaply recently < 5000yen or $50.00 +

the device is intended for girls, so the color is pinkish and "cute" but who cares you can always paint it!! I want to get this device 'cause there is an SD/MMC slot!! a cheap win CE 2.12 device...

That's a machine you'd have to use in the privacy of your own house

Not unless a user wanted to hang out in the mall with a bunch of 13-year-old girls. It reminds me of a "Princess Phone" from the 70s.

Gee ... I really like Japanese! ... it looks really cutie ... ... anyway for it to browse the web properly with javascripts? If it does hotmail, yahoo and gmail properly, without having to use crippled mobile versions of their webpages, I might just pick one up!!

Except, I will have to repaint it ... hehe ...

Yeah it's cheap and cute, but...

VR4121
8MB of RAM
3.2 inch STN 320x240
internal battery that lasts 5 hours

why bother?

And the unknown:
ActiveSync?
Pocket Outlook?
networking?

I have to agree it is a cute little thing tho. Potentially better than some PPC because of the keyboard

sorewa, Stingraze-san, anatawa nihon ni imasuka? Nihonjin desuka?

The answer to the question: YES! I am a pure Japanese.
"Boku wa Nihonjin desu."

Why am I writing in English?

Because I study it! and most of all, Japanese language is not very international is it? lol

I just noticed, but the Pocket Post Pet is 4096 colors (12bit?)

No earphonejack, but probably you can bring a shielded or nonshielded cable from the speaker wire.

P.S. it's selling around 2000 JPY or less here, not 5000 JPY or less !

I think it's a interesting device to be tweaking around...

You can maybe play DivX、OpenDivX、MPEG-4、MPEG-1 with
Pocket DivX Player CASIO_E10x 2002-01-09 0.8

Another is: a bad news. you can't just punch in SD memory like I thought, but have to put in MMC. And further more, somehow it does not recognize bigger sized MMC on some versions, though 128MB and 512MB was confirmed to be working. Some guys are trying (or tried) to make SD go in...

Hmm.. Sigmarion is no longer made, and the latest Sigmarion III was rumored to have quitted on manufacturing. I don't think you can make a English Sigmarion, but it might be possible, for I heard people trying to make into another region's.. .

I'll check later if it is possible.

There are a lot of SigIII users who try and overwrite their ROM using hacked English CE 4.2 files... by putting them in RAM.

Which completly defeats the point.
Yet they have got quite a bit converted.

I also believe that there is a North American company which buys them from NTT Do Co Mo, erases their flash ROM and reprograms them with a core build of English 4.2. I don't have a link for you off the top of my head; or even know if they still offer the service.
