I got some files that replace IE 3 from CE 2.11 to CE 4 from CE 3.0.

IEXPLORE.EXE
WEBVIEW.DLL
HTMLVIEW.DLL

When I replace this files on my Mobile Pro, and soft reset it stop to run.
Desktop doesn't appear (the screen appears black).

In how the replace of this files affect?
webview doesn't affect desktop!
htmlview doesn't affect desktop too!

i dunno why that happened...
i did try iexplore.exe but you need MSHTML.DLL, not webview and htmlview if you want real IE. and the mshtml.dll i found is no good, it's extracted from rom

yeah... I doesn't found any version of MSHTML.DLL (MIPS) from PB,
All of theese files (IE 4 DLLs) I found from a site that learn to hack the old ePods, that show an borrowing login window, and IE doesn't access any page.
ePods are MIPS machines \o/

Turning back to ClearVue suite, have you received my mail, CmoneX?

First things first, the ePod hack files that are available from the main epods community are from Windows CE 2.12, not CE3.00.

The second thing that you need to remember is that depending on the shell configuration, iexplorer.exe and explorer.exe are interlinked, the desktop is actually rendered using the web control sub-system - it is possible to fail the desktop load in such a way that it renders the default IE 404 error instead of the background and icons.

Finally, the ePods stuff doesn't port across devices because of the ROM configuration, all iexplorer.exe is, is a front-end.

the epods files are strange.. there is a MSHTML.DLL but it doesn't seem to work, doesn't even seem to be a valid file. but i'll look into this more.
btw, the epods does have IE4, even though ce 2.12.

front end?
IEXPLORE doesn't runs, it opens, show the address bar and close
C:Amie I think that you're wrong.
ePods stuff runs on MobilePro 770 good, only iexplore.exe doesn't run!

Hi,

I have the same experience as Derek, with IE4 from epods.

But I do not know how in the different tries with the epods site I found an MSHTMl.DLL, size 2.6MB that ExecCheck shows as invalid file.
cmonex: is that the same file you mentioned?

I still do not understand how the guys of epods managed to have an IE4 running, when they do not mention SHDOCVW.DLL or a valid MSHTML.DLL, except that they ALREADY have these DLL in their ROM: if so then IE4.exe is just cosmetic?????

Can one of the very capable gurus put some ligth to this issue??? an even better can we have a solution for IE4 in hpcPro??

Cheers!

oski, yes it is the same dll.

yes i think the epods may have had a mshtml etc in rom, not sure. just a guess. yes IE4 exe is a cosmetic thing, it is just a frontend, yes even if Derek.HPCManiac doesn't believe it

what i'm not sure about is why the epods guys host this dll at all. we should ask them i'm joined on their yahoo group, will send them a message later.

what we would need is a PB 3.0 mshtml.dll - C:Amie has it.

Hey, if iexplore.exe is only an front-end, ePods hackers ade dumb peoples, because for them, explorer.exe and a registry file (that doesn't worked for me, PIE stay crazy, opening some instances of itself, by itself).
Are ePod hackers duno of this?
