ok to sum up whats going on

and i ask would putting linux on my j720 resolve a lack of wifi sniffer compatible with my pc card?

It should.

wifiradar comes to mind, etc. However, if someone doesn't provide a native compiled version, you will have to set up a Linux box and a cross-compiler, get the source, and compile it for ARM. You might be able to compile it on the J72x, depending on memory, etc. It will take a bit to compile on the 72x however.

I'm waiting until jlime for the 7xx comes out and see what it has to offer. Sounds like it may be soon - although soon is a relative term

Wifiradar already has a package in the 720degrees repository. You can download the distro and apt-get it there, or use the package for Jlime if you must.
