Well after waiting almost 2 weeks, My 3COM Lan card finally showed up. Put it and the 680E recognized it.
Now IF I can get the 680 and my PC to talk to each other, I'll be in business.

I am sorry. What I meant was that it sees it as an Unidentified card. Could someone PLEASE tell me how to get the driver loaded onto the 680?
Thanks
Chris

I suppose you either installed the driver through your PC or the cab file on your 680 already?

I did download the driver. Placed in the Active Sync folder. Transfered it to the 680. Its in the Syncronized folder. Now what do I do? When i turn the unit on, I get the message about an Unidentified network card. And a prompt for a name.

ESCAPEMAX, if you got the .cab files in your 680, you need to "run" it to install it. Then will your card be detected. Simply copying it over won't do.

Card is 3COM 3CCE589ET
I know it works. Tested it in my laptop.
When I inserted the card, I get a message. Wants me to enter the name of the driver for the card.
Chris?

ok, ESCM, I am not sure if I am with you on this, or you are with me on it. ... but is the driver (I assume a .cab file) simply in the My Documents folder in your 680 or have you run it to install in your 680? Pls confirm on the steps you have done. From your description above, it seem as though you just had it synced to your My Documents folder without installing it.

I did install it. Its even in the Remove Programs list. These are the files I downloaded from HPC. Asks for a name when I install. Then it appears to just create folders.

Be sure that you have installed the pcmcia.dll update.

The driver installation instructions are here:

It should have installed the drivers in the \windows directory. There should be one xxxnds.dll or something, which is the wifi nds driver. When prompted for a driver name upon insertion of wifi card, type in xxxnds.dll that should do it.

The 3C589 series is a wired adapter, not wireless.

Thanks all. I have partial success. The prompt for the driver name is gone. Now I just need to figure out How to get the 680 to talk to my PC.
Now I can see why people are using Modems. Probably easier to setup.
