I currently own a HP Jornada 820, which is a wonderful machine despite it being bigger than a normal handheld.

So I was looking for AIM Clients and I only found two...the official one and the iMov one, neither which I particularly like.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to those two? (Preferably free, even better if its open source so I can hack it up to my liking).

I'm very picky about my instant messenger client.

I also considered writing my own but embedded visual basic is lacking a lot which I need to do it such as control arrays, and my knowledge of C++ is greatly limited.

an irc client would work but i'm not sure you'd be happy with it or not - what are your requirements?

well..i'm looking for logging. I would kind of like the buddy list to be a seperate window from the chat window. I'll keep searching around on google...

basically i'm loooking for something like Trillian except for windows CE.

I'm considering writing it in the Perl/Tk port...dont know if I can do that or not since my entire knowledge of Perl is all web site stuff.

oh if you want logging, ircce will do it with bitlbee irc-im gateway. even autologging.

buddy list sure is separate there, it is in the main channel and the people you're talkign to are in different windows (actually tabs). normal irc client behaviour.

i tried trillian a long time ago and it was crap, dunno what it is like now.

I have a copy of the old AIM installer that works with the 820, I have it installed and running right now, and I have the unpacked file so you can install in on device from a CF or wantnot.
