| Am I the only one who thinks that 400 pounds for a Netbook Pro is ridiculously high? And 750 pounds 'Buy it now'? What in the world could justify that price?! |

| you're not the only one - but someone might think it is worth for them. my problem (if i wanted to buy this ) would be that insurance isn't offered in the free shipping. |

One sold for about 740 pounds only a few days ago not including shipping. Thats where the price has been set around.
Insurance can easily be arranged if required.
cheers

| Hell, at that price I might sell mine. I have a Netbook Pro with 3 batteries, 2 chargers, a wireless card and all the usual stuff that came with it (CF modem, oddball power adapter, etc). Anyone want to make me rich? |

Commodore 64 has been out of production for about 15 years and it doesn't sell for 400 pounds

I'm not trying to be a salesman here, but I think the reason why netbooks fetch that sort of price is a combination of many things:
- Psion has extremely high brand loyalty. Even 2nd hand 3a's sell.
- Psion produced very good products, arguably the pro was the pinacle.
- The pro was never released as a retail product, making them extremely rare, and hard to find.
- They were priced at the top end of the market when new.
And at the end of the day they make a pretty good small laptop style which fits a lot of specialised needs. Good screen, good keyboard, rugged, good battery life etc. Its a pity psion still arent in the market of PDA's, but thats another story. I've heard they were pretty close to a linux pro before they pulled the pin. |

| Geoff,
I agree that Psion made some excellent products and it's a pity they withdrew from the PDA market. I used to own a 5mx but I recently replaced it with a Jornada 728. It (5mx ) was an amazing piece of hardware but in the end it wasn't enough for me. I wouldn't mind getting a Netbook Pro, if they weren't so damn expensive Infact, in most cases I'd prefer the Netbook to the Jornada but unfortunately I can't afford it. Plus the Jornada does about 90% of what I need so I'm fine at the moment! Maybe some day...
Cheers

I wasnt aware that the linux version got anywhere past alpha version.
In the pre-Pro days, Psion produced great PDA's, but their one critisism was intergration with the Windows world on desktops, laptops, etc for syncronisation.
I think with the Pro they surrendered on EPOC, and took on Win ce which gave them greater integration and greater hardware compatibility (ie they didnt have to write their own drivers ), but lost control of the operating systems. Hence why I believe the pro was the most complete product Psion produced.
MS seems to be tayloring PPC for small screen PDA's now.
I linux version may have been the only long term option for post-pro models, but it gets back to poor integration with windows and poor hardware support.
