Ok so yeah...I'm the * billionth newbie w/ the legendary Joranada 680e from TG.
It's modified...so what.
It rocks; no, not yet...but it will when I get it going.

I've updated to service pack one as the networking instructions state.
I 've managed to connect the Active Sync and wirelessly sync.

I am unable to connect to the internet though.

How do I do this?

I have a Pretec/ Compact Wlan 802.11b, HP Joranada 680e, WCE 2.11 w/ Service pack 1, Linksys WRT54G w/ high gain, WXP Pro. on all the others......

Also is my HPC going to show up in network places like another comp.?
Does it need to join the workgroup?

Please help...I'm so close that I can taste wireless freedom!!!!

I've looke d all thru the forums for days now.......

Thanks.

E

There are some guides around the Support section which are worth brushing up on to give you the low down on Networking with the H/PC, as mentioned by Raven.

Please install vxUtil:

Check your Default Gateway settings in the vxUtil Info screen for your WiFi adapter.

Yeah well, as I said I've been going over these pages for days.
I went from knowing nothing to knowing quite a bit and have managed to get alot accomplished, however I'm stumpted in certain areas.

I've already been thru the networking pages, etc.....

I managed to get on the internet now by enabling ICS on my laptop but that only enables me to connect w/ my laptop running.

I should be able to connect to my wi fi network, no?

I should be able to sit in the airport and connect to their wi fi, no?

This is where I need help.

I'm not finding the answers to these questions on here.

So anyone who can take the time, please give me some goodies.

Thanks

Ah, see now raven, he asked a legitimate question. As he already did some steps like updating the service pack and connecting via activesync himself. It is the ridiculous "what card works with my 680?" that drives me up the wall.

Now, evolbabyslime, do you have the ssid for the access points that you need to connect to? Is the subnet the same?

EDIT: No it won't show up in network places on any of your computers, so it can't join the workgroup either. HPC's (as far as I know) can only see the other computers on the workgroup/entire network.

In answer to two of your questions - as covered in the guides
You can't see if from the host and you don't join workgroups with it.

What is vxUtil displaying as Primary DNS, Secondard DNS, Pri WINS, Sec WINS and Default Gateway?

I did it!!!

After about 16 hours and now suffering from caffeine jitters.....up all night screwing w/ this thing....I am on the internet! I am on the network!

I was all ready to send this thing back as I thought the pcmcia slot was bad (my wifi card would light up then go off)on/ off...on/ off, then wouldn't come on.
Tried it in the laptop and it worked fine.
Back into the Joranada; it stopped.
Upon closer inspection, I found one of my girlfriends long red hairs pushed into one of the female connectors on the card (go figure), pulled it out w/ tweezers and now it works flawlessly.

Still wrestling w/ pocket streets, but I guess I'll have to just go and buy a mapping program for 2.11.

Thanks be to all!!!
