I know there are already a ton of chess programs out there for HPCs, but I just noticed that in the newest update of Championship Chess that it runs fine without using Nyditot on the 900C.

This game is cool because it supports LAN and online play modes against real people. Anyway go here: http://dqsoft.com/anonftp/nozip/ and scroll down and download the Install_Chess.ARM.CAB file

Lots of bells and whistle with the program, and one that you can run on a pocketpc as well as 900C.

Works fine.
But (always have a but : ) when i tried to play online appears a window:

"Prelogin to dqzone.com failed
You must upgrade to the newest version before you can play online
You can download it from http://dqsoft.com/download.html"

I went to the site, and, the "new version" was that I downloaded

But the offline game works.

Unfortunately it's a 9 game evaluation version, and the board is really small. Neat program though.

Great to know that it works, but if the board size is very small, it makes it difficult to stare at the screen for long periods of time when playing the game.

BTW - The developer mentions (in the compatiablity list on the website) that many of their software titles will run on the 900 or 900c. No mention of the 720 or 728!

FWIW, Pocket Fritz 2 (by Chessbase) also supports Internet play, and though compiled for Pocket PC, it works well in H/PC 2000 - particularly in ARM devices like the J72x series. But it's also not freeware.

Pocket Chess is pretty good. Check mscdex' HPC Software Repository:
