| ok, this is a software question. I have an spreadsheet file in pxl (Pocket Excel ) format. I don't have my HPC (MP790 ) around right now to save it in excel format. How do I use it on a notebook (or PC ) that has Excel running?
Is there a PXL->xls convertor for the PC?
I'm using Excel 2002 on win2k. Any ideas?

| There was a converter pack for Excel, but it didn't get out of beta.
This little utility will probably be your best bet. |

| Gee Thanks! But it seem to require me to install "Windows CE Services" as well.
I do not want to install ActiveSync as I do not have broadband for these few weeks and download 3.8 takes quite a while on 26.4kbps!!! *yikes*
Also, the convertor I just downloaded seem to be converting from xls->pxl and not pxl->xls. Am I right? |

| As the converters are in ActiveSync, there is no way around it other than saving it as XLS on the HPC itself in Pocket Excel, or doing similar through PlanMaker. |

| Hi, I still cannot convert my PXL file to XL PC version.
It says: cannot be converted because there is no converter available for the file type. Please advise.

| Do you have Excel & ActiveSync installed? |

| Have you had PlanMaker installed on the device?
In ActiveSync go into options > rules > conversion settings > device to desktop & check the status of Pocket Excel Workbook.
If that is linked to .xls correctly and toggling it doesn't make any difference
regsvr32 "c:\program files\Microsoft ActiveSync\pxl2xls.dll"
regsvr32 "c:\program files\Microsoft ActiveSync\pxlfile.dll"
regsvr32 "c:\program files\Microsoft ActiveSync\pxlcnv.dll"
One at a time drop each of those lines into Start > Run and hit OK. You should get an error back from them - along the lines of "entry point not found". If you get a file not found error or that doesn't make any difference...
then I would advise running a repair installtion on MS Office, following the patch guide from here:
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/patching/
and reinstalling ActiveSync:
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/syncsoft/activesync/
Rebooting and try it again. |

msafi, thanks for the link! ... nope, .... not yet! ... I'm rusty (very rusty ) on my katakana, so I can barely make out the japanese text on that page. btw, does the convertor work on the HPC itself or does it need to run on a PC? Thx! |

| Basically it says
"Using the ActiveSync filters and Mob conv you can convert back and fourth between host and H/PC formats using registered converters.
Shareware with a 30 day trial"
So it's host side & still needs ActiveSync I would summise. |

| I am right with you guys. I downloaded and installed MobConv and the upgrade and rebooted. When I try to run the Mobconv program, I get the following error message: "There is trace by which injustice was performed to the registry key involved in attestation. The application must be ended." I'm not sure what to do next. Any suggestions??? |

| Yes, I do - ActivSync version 3.7.1. I also have Spy Sweeper and Norton Antivirus running, but Mobconv installs in seconds without difficulty. Then when I try to open the program, I get the error message. I tried the same thing on another computer and got the same result. First I installed ActivSync then MobConv. When I tried to open the program, I got the same error. I emailed the Doosoft guy in Japan. He wasn't very helpful:
I purchased your program, MobConv, yesterday. I have ActiveSync 3.7.1
installed on my computer. I installed MobConv 1.1 and the update to 1.1.1 without difficulty. I restarted my computer as I was instructed. When I tried to
open the program I was unable to, and got the following message:
"There is trace by which injustice was performed to the registry key
involved in attestation. The application must be ended." Presently,
I cannot use the program that I paid you for. I would appreciate any
advice that you can give me.
Thank You,
John C. Simon, MD
Dear John,
Thnaks for your payment.
When the registry is operated directly, that message is
usually generated.
Please execute the following step.
(1) Please uninstall MobConv from the control panel. This is
an important step to initialize an illegal registry
about MobConv.
(2) Please install MobConv1.1.
(3) Please update MobConv to 1.1.1.
(4) Please input the password. Please input it to "Password"
button →"Password" edit box in the version window.
Yours very sincerely,
doino
Any other ideas ??
