So there are a whole bundle of these units coming on the market as refurbs...

I'm one of the people that has one (it'll be here tomorrow)...

I see the first order of business is to connect it to a 802.xx network...

I'm not seeing any consensus, there is one other post on this topic, but it deals with a specific card and then jumps around a few others...

Here are my questions:

Looking at the manual for this device (thanks to Silent Knight)

I see there are two "approved" cards:
ZCOM XI-325
Cisco Aironet 350

Both of these are WEP 802.11b cards..

I'd like a 802.11abg card that also ideally supported WPA

SO....

should I just get the Aironet 350 and not "want it all"
OR is there something better that more or less works as advertised out of the box?

Thank you in advance....

K

I just got one of these toys.
I've got it running with the dell "truemobile" 802.11b compact flash card that came with my axim5 (using a pcmcia to cf adaptor).
I also had it running with an old SMC2632w, but the card doesnt support 128bit wep properly.

The dell wifi card worked in the webDT 375 using the axim5 driver.
The SMC wifi card has too many versions and drivers... took a lot of trial and error to find right driver.

One trick to notice is that the "save registery settings" thing in control panel actually updates perm registry settings.

another hint: there is a reset.cab out there that does the missing soft reset function...

its very cool device.
I'm planning to reverse engineer the 2 host usb ports and one slave port in the cradle contacts.

when I have time I'll try coming up with howto and dll package list.

Ok..

It arrived and I noticed that it already had Cisco Aironet drivers installed... and cos I'm not up to a challenge... I elected to just go and buy the cisco aironet 350 802.11b card

Once I have that working then I may try other things... (of course I needed an 802.11b router..)

fy789... I included a link to the manual in my intial post.
