First of all, I did search, but found no threads that could help. NO flames
unless I deserve it........

I bought one of the TigerDirect 680e's thinking "Oh boy! email, web
browsing & ebook reader!"
I did the SP1 & SSL128 patches, but when I use internet explorer most web
sites hang the jornada (www.cnn.com, www.tsn.ca, etc) Is there another IE update
or some other fix? I have to use the reset to get back in. Is there another browser?
I subscribe to a lot of newletters. Is there a way to get Outlook to display anything
but plain text messages?
Lots of technical ebooks are available in the Windows Help (.chm) format. Is there a way to associate these files with the HP/Pro help reader?
And lastly, is it still true that there's no free pdf reader?
Thanks in advance

Ok, this really didn't warrent a new thread. It would have been better served inside one of the numerous, existing threads.

When you say they hang, where are they hanging, can you provide us with sprcific urls, as I have never observed such behaviour under 2.11 under 'most web sites'.

No Outlook oesn't handle HTML messages, neither does nPOP - although there is a work around to make it load them in pIE.

You can use this tool to convert CHM into HTML for viewing on the HPC. (Use Decompile from the file menu).

It is true for your device.
Primer 3.1 is your only option:

Sorry C:AMIE,

I've only been here a few times & I'm not yet up on the proper
forum etiquette.
Thanks for your help. IE will start to load these pages (cnn.com,tsn.ca,
engadget.com, news.com, for example) The page will get some headings,
placeholders for the graphics & stop responding. The stop button won't work,
keystrokes or stylus taps don't work. I have to use the reset button to get it to
respond again. No other programs are running.

Try ininstalling the Pocket IE and system updates for SP1, soft reset and give it a try again.

Also ensure that cookies are enabled and that the cache is enabled.
