| Anyone want to tutor me in Vancouver BC?
I need hands on help and can't afford to spend days reading everything here.
I will pay the going rate.
If you know of any professionals here that you might suggest I'd love the advice.
Thanks.
I just need to access to wireless internet and just can't get past some security issue.

| Stop being so lazy! The only way to learn is to try things out yourself... |

| No I think you're being too harsh PS. Not everyone is computer minded, not everyone understands TCP/IP, and a lot of people don't have the time to fathom it out by themselves - you may, but at lot of us don't.
It's a reasonable request, I think you shoudl climb down on that PS.
I'm afraid that I do not know any consultants in Vacouver to suggest helping you. What are the details of the device / network hardware you need help with, it may help you find someone. |

| I spend about 3 hours a day 7 days a week farting around and trying to learn more about using my Mobilepro 770.
I've no interest in learning how computers work.
I've been on a huge learning curve with this thing and I don't work professionally in the computer industry.
I learned everything I know about computers self taught.
I only started using a PC in 1998 and got the wireless card a few weeks ago.
So I'm asking for a tutor to work with me live, not free help via emails from everyone. Sound efficient to me.
I don't understand the jargon on this forum even after reading the glossary.
Any other great advice you can offer?

Thanks for your comments.
My last post was of course in response to the PS fellow.
I have a NEC MobilePro 770, Windows CE 3.01.
I activesync with a Dell desktop Windows XP.
I've never used any other handheld device.
The new wifi card is a RoamAbout Enterasys Networks 802.11 DS High Rate. It seems to be fine.
I never use the built in Microsoft Outlook for email.
I can surf the internet with the wi-fi card and view pages and search with Google.
However...Yahoo keeps crashing so I soft reset and try again. I go to mobile.yahoo.ca but it seems to be transfering me to regular Yahoo. It's just as fast/slow so don't know how or if I need to do anything about that. But before I can log in it either freezes up or says I'm not providing a secure connection - this is my main foible. Hotmail is also saying "not providing secure connection". I don't know what to do about that.
I use Hotmail and Yahoo all the time so my accounts are active and all that.
It could be a 7 second configuration on the device but it's beyond me.
However....my paid ISP's webmail managed to open and I was able to read some new emails I'd received. Eureka!
I then tried to send 4 emails. They got stuck on a blank page (with a gazzilion numbers in the url) after I pressed "send" but one did manage to squeak through!
It felt like I had sent the first telegraph when I got home and found the one email.
If I could just cut and paste text into emails I send my goal would be fullfilled.
I intend to use it travelling and writing to be able to submit stories.
Thanks, Computerette-er

I think this sums it up quite well really. |

| The 770 is CE 2.11 (Handheld PC 3.01 ), so be sure to get software for 2.11 or H/PC Pro not 3.0 or HPC2000.
Ensure that you have installed the 128-bit SSL update (See downloads abouve ) and then try this url:

| Update:
I just tried Yahoo mail; worked great. It seemed to automatically change the layout to fit the HPC. See screenshot.
As for Hotmail... no good. I can login with Passport and all, but the Hotmail pages have a lot of links that do not work in my browser. I can't even read the mails in the list.
Note that I am using CE3 with IE4 (with hacked Flash ) so your results may vary.
Still, if you want to hang out with another HPC user in the area, contact me anytime (yahoomail.JPG) Attachments ---------------- yahoomail.JPG (41KB - 14 downloads) |

What was that? It is not referring to what you think.
-Sorry, I had a bad day. Won't happen again. |
