| RJ99: maybe you already have 4.10, did you check in control panel? if it is not 4.10, then send me an email to contactchan (at ) freemail.hu
the zip has to be unzipped on your pc, so it is corrupt, redownload it, it has to be 20-21MB.
anyway my new site has more info on this http://hpcmonex.net/nec900/nec900site.html
what was above your head in the tutorial? can you tell me? maybe i can make it better. oh and you don't need to read the "advanced" parts first time.
btw, it will be updated, regarding the big registry file problem.
frisser: yeah i always delete it, it is there for a stupid reason i guess and thanks for the info, Rich. Edited by cmonex 2007-04-20 9:37 AM

what was above your head in the tutorial?
Trouble was I was paddling up the wrong creek, scouring through the 25 page ROM.DOC tutorial (don't ask!) ... now got myself where I was supposed to be. It looks crystal clear, super. I'll go for it on Monday (too much noise around here weekends!). Thanks.

What is the proper place if it isn't the 25 page ROM.DOC which is what unzipped out of what I downloaded a week or so ago?
Thanks, Don

| Don,
Go to http://hpcmonex.net/nec900/nec900site.html & choose the Custom Roms section. It's all there but do follow CMONEX's 'Read the readme's'!

| Hi cmonex,
tried it via C+F method with the XIP.BIN file copied onto a fresh FAT formatted 256 Transcend CF card (have no 64 MB CF card here ). 4.10 bootloader is installed. After searching for OS I got the message no OS found. Then the Mp900c boots the Os from flasheprom. Is it necessary to use CF card not bigger than 64 MB? The 256 MB Transcend CF card is readable

| hey nickel3: the size of your card is fine, i guess the bootloader doesn't like the formatting of the card. try formatting it another way (i mean another program, but keep it fat16 ), or try another card.
RJ99: ah i see you just wanted info on how to update? the tutorial is about how to build your own roms Edited by cmonex 2007-04-20 5:38 PM

| That's what I was thinking. Maybe it'll read it if it's FAT32. |

| CE Geek: nope the 900 bootloader will not handle FAT32. |

| oh, what dlls did you lose?
hmm i guess i'll put up a note that says the tutorial doesn't contain the rom flash/installation instructions
btw i just tried opera 8.65 beta... it works cool with the built in flash7. (will make new thread on opera )
hopefully my next edition will be able to run it out of the box. but already with this edition you only need to use my modified opera.exe that i will post soon |

| Hi cmonex,
thanks for your advice. Tried it on my Win2K machine insted on my XP machine. failed Tried it with the update.exe . failed again. But got the solution in the end. Tried an additional 256 MB CF card (noname ). Formatting FAT, copying the XIP.BIN, and the the C+F method. New OS is installed. Great work done

| Cmomex,
"...- dimming display is disabled..."
If we are talking about the reduction in backlight intensity after 30 seconds of inactivity, it still exists, but may have changed in character. You need to step the brightness up and then let 30 seconds elapse to see it dim.

| DonL0001, if you mean the display blacks, i did not disable that, i only disabled the dimming itself, but if you all think i should disable the blacking too i will - but this is easily accessible from control panel, while dimming isn't and it annoys most users so i disabled that.
nickel3: glad it worked |
