update: don't use gapi, the silly thing checks if the system is running 4.20, which i set to 4.21 for fun (as seen in system info applet)... i'll change it back to 4.20 now.

Cmonex,

I have sucessfully installed the non-GAPI-fixed version.

Initial notes, questions -

1. The OK buttons tend to have black on black appearance, and thus do not show up. Not a big deal.

2. Can you verify that you decided not to include any pdf reader except for the original MS one?

Thanks, Don

If one installs the new v2 and new bootloader, will they still be able to go back to the last official NEC release? Meaning bootloader v4.1 and the last CE.NET from NEC?

DonL0001: you can now reflash with the GAPI enabled version if you wish.

1.: do you mean hard to read?
2.: yes i can verify i did not include a new pdf reader because none of the options were that good.

of course my opinion can be changed if you all say i was wrong with this decision

bootloader is NOT flashed in. that is only the updater it is only loaded in RAM for the time of the update. when you hard reset after the flash it is lost.

and yes of course you can still flash any rom as always

Hi,

I read your post carefully and I can repeat it word-perfect but still can not find any mention to v2.0 in that link.
Sorry probably one of my frequent silly days

oski,

If you click on the supplied link, you should see the below text:

NEW: custom rom v2.0!

info:
- cmonex's rom version 2.0, update with the included updater bootloader ONLY.
- flash this only if you already have bootloader version 4.10!!!! you can check your version information in the NEC firmware info applet in control panel on your 900c.
- if you have bootloader 4.5.1-6., the link to upgrade and info on upgrading is here: official roms and info page

important:
- read changelog and info!!!
- flashing instructions are included in the package!

download changelog here: click to read changelog please!
download rom v2.0 here: download link to custom rom v2.0
download additional package if needed: for mouse users

Can't you display that?

Regards, Don

No, just no button outlines unless I play with the 'contrast?' settings substantially.

Great Job

Very pleased with it, all sorts of minor niggles have been worked out, and the start menu is arranged very well too HPC office is flawless and pretty (Thanks Geared!) too

The new skin is very good too I still haven't fixed the stylus calibration on my mp900c but this is giving me more incentive to do it

Just a couple of things that would be nice (i saw that you said on your page it would not be long between releases now):

  • Could you associate txt and ini files with pnotepad?

  • Could you put Soundwidget in the Startup?

  • When you do the package for the Internal Disk, will it have shortcuts and file associations by default in the rom? Maybe we could have a vote - i for one don't mind treating my Internal Disk as part of the OS image - that way we could get things like the GAPI demos back

  • Speaking of GAPI, could you pre-set "Activate Framebuffer Cache"?=

  • Could you put PocketPuTTY and DotNetVNC into the package? (I'm guessing it won't fit into the ROM)

Also, when you click the "Web" button in Media Player it opens IE not ftx - is this because it is harcoded to do so or is the http: protocol still set to IE? I don't really use Media Player, just been going through all the programs...

Anyway, i'm not complaining - very much the opposite I'm sure i speak for all of us mp900c users when i say that you have done us proud
