Really Need help with NEC R730

Hello, Friends
I am about to shift my hp690 to NE C R730.
I have used my HP690 for some time.
I think it nice but too small for a 1.85m-high.
The tiny words squeezed across the screen.
So does my fingers on the key board.
Meanwhile in my opinion it has a weak heart.
Sh3 cup lacks support badly.
For the benifit of my eyes,I would have a change.

I wondered around the market, suprised to find that my HP690(sh3) with a smaller face beats NEC R730(mips) with a bigger screen in price .
Why a smaller screen wins a higher price?
Does this mean there is some inferiority of R730 c.f. HP690 ?

Is there a GAPI for R730(even an old one, like acient dummy gx.dll for my HP690), to make it possible to view AVI Files with out too much bumps.
Is its sound system as poor as that of HP690?
Is there a alternative WebBrowser to pIE for mips
....

Some many questions emerged in my mind.
So I come here to consult you my friends.
Any advice, comments on either device may be helpful.

The NEC R730 is not a very common device, as such there are less people actively looking for it. I imagine this is having an impact upon its price.

The device is also a 2.11 sub-notebook, there HVGA's are in higher demand.

There isn't a real version of GAPI. There are a couple of stub files for MIPS and nothing for SH3 that I am aware of. It wont make a huge difference, especially on a VGA device. You really want an Arm device and CE3+ for video.

There is another MIPS browser called WorldTALK which some people like.

Well isn't it really just the same as the Mobilepro 880 with Japanese language support?

netfront 3 does work but still a hpc2000+ device would be better. for the above mentioned reasons. also, netfront is less quirky on hpc2000.
where did you find a gx.dll for sh3?

I say: Nope, not at all. Many people place a higher value on portability. You can carry the Jornadas in your pocket...you can't do that with any Mobilepro easily, even with oversize pockets.

I say: No real GAPI for mips, but like C:Amie mentioned, there are some gx.dlls that will fool some software into working.

I answer: The hifi sound is very good, but you need the proper adapter to work with stereo headphones. Using the external speaker though is very poor.

I say: CAmie answered, there was also an old explorer type program made by Conduits, but it is even worse than PIE in my opinion.

I say: CMonex mentioned HPC2000, you can put the rom from a 790 into your machine and get HPC2000, just as you can a MP880. But you lose the Japanese language support. You can do the same thing with the chip from R550 and keep the Japanese language, but in both cases you lose USB support.

I just got a GX.dll , Gx.ini and a GX.lib
the former files are downloaded long time ago i dont remember the add.
of that Japanese site.
recently someone just droped a post in a native BBS with a add leading to a Japan... site saying its has all the gapi for ce211 sys.(Not the site I visited)
I dont quite believe. I wonder arund the site but finding no trace of HP690 and nothing useful to me.

Tell me,is the Gapi varis from device to device even they are with exactly the same sys?

I still have the entire pack of the "GX" files for Hp690J680J of 3 versions
named sh3020/sh3031/sh3041
I can only use the older one 3020
The sh3041 drives TCPMP to hang.

that gx.dll really accelerates my TCPMP and
YameCE and does make them work better.
But Pocket Dos seems to neglect its existance.

But let me to be better understood.
that gx 's performance alters.
You see i know little about Japanes(Jp)
I"d rather use enaglish than jp.
so i have to modify lot parts of the sys,
each time after a hard reset to let it support chinese.
Sometimes with this gx TCPMP can play fast
but sometimes not quit.
I guess my diffrent modifications to the sys
may affact gx's performance

Dont thank me, let'ss give our thinks to the jp programmer, if it does improve your hp's performance.
BTW if the greater version lead the system to crash or halt , try the older one.
and better not use it with PktMVP
Once I tried the older version(which works fine and stable with TCPMP for me) with the PocketMVP.
The PocketMVP constantly crashes.
