Ok so it may be crazy but I plan to use my old LG Phenom running CE 2 as my webserver. My current one(s) are Slow, Unrealyable, and full of viruses. Anyway I just did a google search and found amazingly a link to microsofts msdn website full of info on it but no download. Does anyone know of any webservers compatable with CE 2 I can get for free?

Thanks

Nick

There are several. Look under "programming" on this page:

I think there is CEHttp, ApacheCE etc. I remember that StingRaze ran a online website off his Sigmarion (I cannot remember if it is III or I or II??). You may want to ping him as well.

You will be surprised that a typical webserver do not need too much juices to fly actually. Unless you have tons of server scripts running, otherwise to dish out just html stuffs, it should be quite alright.

Prob most people encounter is when they try to run interactive applications on the web server at the same time. Then you will get a hit.

The Microsoft IIS-CE web server is only available as a module through platform builder, that said the PPC 2002 SDK actually has the code samples in it for IIS-CE, alas no version exists in the H/PC build.
Having the IIS ASP engine would be pretty useful - at least it gives you a server side language capability (no matter what you think of ASP)

Cool . I've just changed my server config, So I won't be using My Phenom as a webserver to everyone, I'm going to try and find out about IIS-CE but for now I'm just going to use either ApacheCE or CeHttp as an intranet server. Anyway.

Thanks for your help

Nick

The PPC 2002 SDK has a installation cab for IIS-CE ARM that
I have run on my J720. It has a limited asp engine(It is documented
somewhere. It can interface access throuh ADOCE 3.1) Sadly though,
I could never get a ISAPI I created to run for the webserver.

There is an echo around here.

The PPC IIS release was more likley a gimic, not really the full IIS-CE platform builder release. Could account be attributed to your ISAPI issue.

could be. But an Administration isapi is included with the installation which
works with no problem.

Oh, hum..

Just one of those obvious points that you'll throw something pointy at me for making.. but you did compile the ISAPI using the correct SDK right?
