upgrade

i have NEC mobilpro 900c with CE4.2o/s
can i upgrade the o/s to any windows version?
and can i install micrsoft word instead of word viewer?

No. You can update CE .NET 4.2 but not upgrade to CE 5.0.

But you can downgrade to H/PC 2000 (CE 3.0) and get Pocket Word.

HOW ABOUT REMOVE IT AND REPLACE WITH ANOTHER ONE.CE 5.0 FOR EXAMPLE?

Maybe able to do it but if you want to test it . let us know how it went.

well im wondering about making ce5 for the 900c

if the recreated driver dlls work ok with ce5 then maybe .. only maybe.


you can't just put a generic ce 5.0 on it!


EDIT: nope i forgot nk.exe has both the kernel and the OAL in it. so no i dont think it would be easy or not near impossible
would definitely require lots of reverse engineering and even then success is not guaranteed. if i ever get to fully understand how nk.exe works (right now only checking for coredll.dll in it) then i will try it otherwise not.

it makes no sense to downgrade for pocketword. cenet has the exact same pocketword renamed to wordpad except that it doesn't have a spellchecker (you can install one though). so i dont get how this common misconcept got so widespread.
