900C vs. 900C-A: is there a difference?

I recently got a second 900c off ebay. Holding the two side by side, I see on the back label that one is model number 900C-A and the other is simply 900C. What's the difference? The seem identical to me in every way... what does the "-A" mean? I think maybe I heard somewhere that the "-A" was the UK version? Anyone know if that's correct? Are there other versions out there? Thanks.

No difference at all...just differences in manufacturing codes. Some people believe the A identifier was NEC way of showing the devices were originally 900s before flash upgrades. Others say it showed those assembled in Taiwan rather than their Indonesian plants. No one gives a definitive answer, not even from NEC themselves.

nope, all the 900c's ive seen are from taiwan.

i'm 99% sure my explanation is the closest to the reality because all the 900C-A's i've seen have rev 00 mb's, and the 900C's have rev 01.

and no there isn't any UK version. they all were meant for the US.

cmonex, basically are you saying that the 900C's are newer than the 900C-A's? is there any advantage to the rev 01 mb over the rev 00? Or are they all exactly the same?

no, i'm not saying that at all. the 900's were still manufactured after the release of the 900c. i didn't notice differences.. maybe one thing, my 900C (rev 01) lasts more in suspend than the rev 00 stuff i have, but i need to test more, i got hold of another 900C (rev 01), i'll test that later
