| Just bought a Nec Mobilepro 900c (and a Jornada 720 ) but I'm a bit of a newbie with this kind of handheld Pc's. I also own several Pocket Pc's and some Psion's (5 & 5mx ) - and for these machines I know what you must have to enjoy them to the max.
I have bought Softmaker Office (I also own the Pocket Pc version - so I only have to buy a upgrade for the CE version ) and also bought The Great Handheld PC Software & Resource CD 2007. But I think there a several other must haves....
So my question to you all is what are the must haves for the Nec 900c?

| Most important to me , a screen protector.
Also looking into keyboard protector.
Would also like to find a protective sleeve or un-bulky case to slip 900 into
Nice large CF memory card (just got a 4 GB one from newegg.com for $37.00)
Wifi card
Flashplayer 7 really makes internet explorer much nicer (see the thread about that)
Mouse is nice sometimes.

| Everybody is different, and use their hpc for different purposes, so you'll get quite a few contradicting answers. The question is, what do 'you' plan to do with your hpc? Thatd make it easier to point you towards software.
That being said, all the software on my website http://720.b0x.com will work on the 900c (except ready2run which is meant for jornada ) and jornada. Also check out http://hpc.communitypage.net/ and http://hpcnec.com/ . I'm sure you'll find enough to keep you satisfied for awhile.
Cheers. |

| I'm a huge fan of HPC Notes. I use it for all of my notetaking (work, stand-up comedy, personal), and it provides a desktop version and syncing through ActiveSync. Yeldnat's Converter comes in handy, too. I think both of these are on the CD.
A couple items out of "Plus!" are handy, namely Pocket Paint and Resource Meter.
The Microsoft Entertainment Pack 2.0 for Windows CE has some of the ol' Windows counterpart games (Freecell, Hearts, Minesweeper, Reversi), a few nicer timekillers (Blackjack, Codebreaker, Chess, Taipei), Space Defense (a Missile Command-like game), and Sink the Ships (a Battleship game that you can play solo or against another over IR). You can still find it at Frys (I bought mine recently) or at their online store at Outpost.com.
As for hardware:
I carry a USB LED light with a flexarm in my carrying case for keyboard lighting in low-light situations (the screen alone just isn't enough light for me).
I have extra AC adapters to avoid unpacking/re-packing scenarios. I keep one at work, one at home, and one in my carrying case for when I travel. |

| You're right, Ed, Entertainment Pack is cool. I like the layout in Blackjack. (Only downside: it doesn't allow you to surrender. 'Course, neither do most Vegas casinos nowadays. ) Edited by CE Geek 2007-04-16 3:16 PM

I did and now I'm getting 5 hours, instead of 3 1/2 hrs! |

| Actually, Blackjack has several really nice features including: display current card count, betting strategy hints integrated into the game, customizable game setup (# decks, rules, etc. ), even game setup to Vegas, Atlantic City, et al.
Biggest downside for me on Blackjack is it's only you vs dealer ... how many times does >that< situation happen!
Anyone know any "better" (pun intended ) Blackjack game out there? |

| WizardWorks' version (Casino Pack ) is pretty good - and you can have multiple players. (Hard to find nowadays, though. ) |

| I agree (on the extended battery)... you should get a lot more. Are you attaching other devices (wireless card, etc.). |
