As a long-time Ubuntu user,
(and Debian before that
) I think this a great idea. Canoncial has a way of focusing development on what works and I love their commitment to a swift, regular release schedule. Not that their haven't been bugs and annoyances with Ubuntu -- but the community has always stepped in and made things work.
I look forward to same model being applied to a mobile product.
