Hi all, I just got an Enterasys RoamAbout PC card for my Jornada 680. When I hooked it up at home it instantly connected to my neighbour's network.

But I don't have a wireless network at home myself, I got the card to acess the wireless network provided at my school so I can stay up to date on email and waste more time in class. The problem is that when I brought it to school, it wouldn't connect to the network. Apparently this is becaue the encryption at school requires that my computer gets the key from the network. But I can't set up anywhere in the roamabout software to accept this key.

I'm registered for a wireless account at my school, but there is nowhere that I see to put my user name and password.

I really hope that i didn't buy this thing for nothing. It looks to me like I need a new client for this PC card. If anyone can help me out here, i would really appreciate it. Here is a description of the type of encryption protocals I need to support:

http://clyde.concordia.ca/neg/remote_access/wireless/general_info/security.html

http://clyde.concordia.ca/neg/remote_access/wireless/general_info/peap.html

It looks like I just need to set it up to get the key from my servers at school, but then where do I input my login info. I really hope I can get this working.

Yes I have. That would be "128-bit encryption for HPC Pro" on my Remove Program Properties, right?

Oh wait a sec, did you set it to obtain a address & server on its own?

What i mean to say is, did you set it to obtain its own address and such?

Yes I did, as I said it works fine on stuff that I don't need encryuption keys for. The client that came with the card dosen't have an 'obtain key' option.

info in the HCL:

40-bit & optional 128-bit WEP
Firmware updates are available.
Support for 802.1X authentication (EAP-TLS, TTLS, PEAP&MD5) and Ad-hoc networking.

it should be OK... try to get the latest firmware and drivers...

I think you will need something like the Odyssey client or AirMagnet to do it - basically a OSI security provider to sit in between the driver and the network.

PEAP isn't supported fully under PPC2002 drivers, so this one really is down to third-party I think.
Although I believe the Aironet 350 has log-in features in the driver - can a 350 user confirm?

Well it looks like I'm screwed. Does anyone know a similar third party app that will run on CE2.11?

The techies at school told me about odessey but it dosen't support HPCpro.

At least there's the cafe across the street...

Theonly thing I can conclusivly tell you for WiFi under it is that there is no way you can support WPA. It's WEP only.
I know of no specific application. You could try emailing the developer and asking if they have a beta binary for 2.11 - long shot.
