| I can't get ActiveSync 3.0 to detect my new 680e - the "Get Connected" probe checks for a serial port on COM1 only and my USB-serial adapter shows up on my system as COM2.
Is there a registry setting or something to get it to probe all the available COM ports?
(The 680e comes with a DB9 serial cable only. My computer is a laptop and has no DB9 port, only USB.)

Please download ActiveSync 3.8 from "Sync Soft" in the top navigation before continuing. AS 3.0 does not support USB.

| First use ActiveSync 3.8 provided on this sites down load page. Second if your laptop does not have a DB9 you may not be able to connect to that laptop. As only specially modified 680/680e units have USB support.

| Tripplite makes a usb to serial cable that I had to get to use to configure hardware. Wasn't very much and does add alot of functionality to the laptop. Might be the easiest fix for your situation | |

| Thanks - that was fast!
I upgraded to AS 3.1 and it works now. For some reason I could not get my browser to start the 3.8 download from MS's site.
I am running Windows ME so I don't have a need to run a particularly recent version :-| Yes I Know ME is a pathetic piece of whatever.
BTW I tried to set up an ethernet connection using a D-Link DFE-690TXD cardbus card and it was not recognized.

| The DFE-690TXD is Cardbus there for will not work under CE under any circumstances.
I recommend that you at least install ActiveSync 3.5 or higher on your system.
