running pocketpc games such as age of empires might be possible on j720

Hi I saw this post they say that you can run games like age of emires on jornada there is also a list
you have to use their patch but link is broken so I'm asking if somebody has this patch bc it would be great to run apps like aoe on our jornadas

I don't really think we will be able to find this patch anywhere. Moreover, I guess this patch meant dll's and nothing more.

What's more, I've been running simcity 2000, aoe and some other games like tomb raider which didn't require any patches. Just Gapi and dll's.

how did you run for example age of empires? what dlls does it need?
I installed ppc version removed gx.dll because it was there (like in warfare) but when I tried to run it there was error that app has performed illegal operation...

I have aygshell.dll, gx.dll, doclist.dll... in win folder

what exact .dlls do I need I know that cmonex has a lots of them but I dont know which, do I have to copy it into /windows or to game dir?

can you tell me what (all) ppc games can be run on jornada720?

iirc AOE runs using GAPI but i could be wrong. i dont know a thing about the gx's. i just host them so you have a chance to try them out some work well, some dont. TFGBD is who really knows which one does what.

ExecutabilityCheck (from Cmonex site) tells you missing dlls! However no software can tell you the specific ones. For example there are many aygshell.dlls and the only way to know what is the right one is to try all of them and see what is the best. Same for other dlls.

You can copy dlls either into windows or into the program folder. A program searches for dlls in program folder before and windows folder after in order to load and run

well, my readmes try to help with that (in my packages). there are two best versions of aygshell for example.

Not true. That message is often due to a missing DLL (aygshell.dll or, more often, a wrong or missing mfcce300.dll).

if mfc is the wrong version then you do get illegal operation things. so execheck is still useful. also when you get not valid CE app.

I use the first dll's package from Cmonex's site (aygshell 16,5). Then You should try different setting in Gapi and, but not always, Nyditot . It works perfectly.

Again it seems that running PPC games is the most important issue among forum users

Pokey, did you you manage to get GTS Racing in landscape mode or what? I tried to get it to work, but I got just a bit more than half game displayed

Not much choice when development of H/PC software versions comes to a screeching halt.

BTW, if TVE is the game I'm thinking of, it (and the other cute little games by its developer) actually works in CE 2.11 (both H/PC and Palm-size PC) without any hacks, as I found out when I tried them on my CE 2.11 devices.
