Overview

This article provides information on a registry modification that will increase the colour pallet from 8-bit to 16-bit on the PenCentra 200.

More Info

The Fujitsu PenCentra is set by default to display in 8-bit color (256 colors). However, the display is capable of displaying 16-bit color (65,536 colors). Changing to the higher color depth requires a registry edit.

WARNING: If you use a Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to hard reset your Handheld PC back to its factory installed configuration. Edit your Windows CE registry at your own risk.
  1. Using a registry editor on the PenCentra 200, navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Display\PLUM2
  2. Find the DWORD value
    Bpp
  3. The value will show as 8 (hexadecimal), the default representing 8-bit color. To enable 16-bit color shange the value to:
    10 (hex), or 16 (decimal)
  4. Close the registry editor and soft reset the device

The display is now in 16-bit color.
