If you are looking for a compact PCMCIA WIFI card you need the Aironet 340 by Cisco. It has an internal antenna, and fits totally inside your unit. The distance is not the best though. If you want a great card, as C:Amie says "go for the Aironet 350!!!"
i was checking about and the aironet 350 is officialy supported under 4.1. and drivers are still available at cisco.com |

1. Does this card support CE.NET?
2. Does this card perform well without attaching an external antenna (just with the internal one)?
it uses a standard prism2 driver which is available for ce.net 4.1 so you should be ok.
i don't know the answer to the second q though.
EDIT: sorry i forgot you wanted it for 4.2. but it should be available for 4.2 too Edited by cmonex 2005-06-21 7:42 PM

| I'm having trouble in installing Prism 2.5 driver for my Belkin F5D6020 v.1 wireless card on NEC MP900C with CE .NET 4.2. According to the HCL, I tried WLAN.1824.cab and PRISM400.1824.cab on MP900C with PXA255 processor, neither would install. The message says 'The application cannot run on this device type. Please install the application specific to this device type'. Any idea? I'm going to try drivers for processor code 2577 to see if I have luck. |

| Yes. PRISM400.2577.cab works flawlessly for Belkin F5D6020 v.1 card on NEC MP900C. HCL provides info under Belkin's card. |

| It's under "F5D6020 Ver 1 (802.11b )" which simply references CESD-H-0028 |

| HCL lists F5D6020 Ver.1 as a CF-type card, but it's a PCMCIA one. A correction is desirable. I almost skipped it when I searched for a suitable WiFi card. Fortunately, I have one and it works on J720 and MP900C. |

| ah, if you mean http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/d/0004.asp (which is where H0028 tells you to go ), then yes that is not clear enough. notify C:Amie please. |

| Yes. That's it. I just submitted HCL report. Hopefully, we'll have an updated list and others don't need to experiment. |

take a look at the Enterasys Roamabout. works great for me
Agree. I use the Roamabout for all my handhelds, J680, NEC 780/790 & now my NEC900c. I just installed the J 720 driver. No problem, except I am amazed at how slow the 900c surfs! My other handhelds, especially my memory enhanced 790 search and load pages significantly faster!
I wonder of IE for CE is the problem. I get much improved speed when I switch over and use Google For Mobile Devices search engine. |

no, IECE is very fast on other cenet hpc's. NEC did something wrong. anyway try loading a complex page with your 790, it'll be slower or it'll fail entirely - that's where the 900c is a lot better. |

| I'm having difficulty in using F5D6020 v.1 on MP900C to get an IP from my home Belkin router F5D6230-3 while I successfully did it from my company's LinkSys router with the same level encryption (64-bit). I tried 1) automatic IP, DNS, and WINS, 2) Automatic IP, manual DNS, and manual WINS, and 3) manual IP, manual DNS, and manual WINS. With automatic setting, I always got IP: 169.254.184.230, Subnet: 255.255.0.0, and empty Gateway. With manual setting, the connection log says 'ZeroConfig started' and 'Associating with', but never actually associated with my home router though it said 'connected to' my router and indicated signal strength. Another thing is that I have to use 'Let Windows manage the wireless networks'. Otherwise, 'connect' button is disabled and double-click on any SSID has no effect. Any idea? |

| F5D6230-3 is an 802.11b router as I am an early adopter of 802.11b and still using it on all my desktop, laptops, and HPC. I am going to delete the existing wireless connection on my preferred list and add it as a new one to see if it works.
