Other than Total Commander 2.0, Thesaurus, Tascal Regedit, and HPCFactor's Generic IrDA driver, I don't use anything else.

What software have people installed on their 2.0 devices?

I did not know that a user could install Avantgo on a 2.0 device, very interesting. I promptly went to AvantGo, but they're only uploading AG 6.0. So I went to Tucows and found AG 4.0--Chris, is that the version you're using on your CE 2.0 device?

On ebay, I bought (and then recevied, even better) the ellusive 8 mb DRAM chip for the Velo. I can now run CE 2.0 MIPS in all its former glory. Before, I had only the 4 mb DRAM, so I had CE 2.0 LiteLite; I didn't even have PocketWord's spellchecker.

I'm amazed at what Velo threw into the upgrade. On my 2.0 device now runs:

BFaxPro/BSquareView: I've never seen a BSquare program in action, and this is a treat. The once-free BVRP PhoneTools for the J-720 probably still rules, since you can sign faxes, but BSquare really has attention to detail; a shame you can't buy any of their stuff anymore.

Character: here, I had been thinking that Special Characters didn't exist in CE 2.0, but this program--which includes smart quotes and ellipses--blows away PW 2.1*'s Special Characters. The only rub is that Character isn't integrated into PW. It's cut-n-paste.

All-Pro Database: I use Phatware HPC Notes on my J-720, so dunno anything about this.

Unit Conversion: good, not user-adjustable like Tascal's

As for other 2.0 programs, I'm also beta-testing a Wolfgang program (maker of WR-Tools), a variation of his Umlaut program that allows a user to chose his own hot-keyed special characters.

So those apps along with AvantGo, nPOP, TC 2.0, Tascal Regedit, and Thesaurus. Certainly the Velo 1 is lot more usable than when it came a month ago.

I also find that the extra DRAM substantially increased the keyboard's speed. Printing to my Canon BJ-50 remains slow, but no longer at a molasses pace.

I found Monopoly for CE only after some extensive searching and inquiring. Where did you find Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit for CE? (No sign of it on eBay, and the Hasbro link for these games is dead.)

I won Monopoly, Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit in an auction on eBay for about 20 USD... They work great on my 360LX and my Nino...

I don't have it yet. I've been hesitating cuz I have other versions of most of the games already. (It's also my understanding that the chess program is pretty weak, and being a USCF-rated expert who once beat a grandmaster in the early days of the H/PC, I'd like a challenge. But I guess one can't expect too much from any chess program running at 75 MHz or so.) I have heard good things about the blackjack program, though, and that might be enough to motivate me.

Boy, and I thought I got a deal for Monopoly CE for $10. Nice catch, tenjeangosi. I got 'em on my search list.

Hey Rick! Where did you manage to get Text Maker for CE 2.0? I'm a journalist, and I'd REALLY apreciate a better word processor, with justifying capatibilities and all. Any help?

tks.

Well, I managed to get old version of Text Maker 2002 on wayback machine, I dad tried it before, the file comes corrupt but I could extract the content.

Unfortunately, on Mobilons 4600 (and all other MIPS CE 2.0 devices) you need to use a storage carg, so Text Maker is dependant on battery power, since Mobilons battery life isn't good.

If anyone wants evaluation Text Maker for CE 2.0, I have it and can made it available elsewhere.

see ya.
