Description

Brandy is an interpreter for BBC Basic (or Basic V as it is referred to here) that runs under a variety of operating systems.

Basic V is the version of Basic supplied with desktop computers running RISC OS.

This is the Windows CE port of Brandy which runs on ARM based Pocket PC's. To run it on Windows CE 3.0 or higher you must place an aygshell.dll stub file in the \Windows directory or in the application directory.

The conversion is text based for the moment and the program doesn't support any graphics, sound or other hardware related features of BBC Basic V. This may change in future if there is any interest in incorporating graphics.

It does however, support the SYS keyword for directly calling the WinCE API and the OSCLI keyword for running other programs.

See the dir.bbc program for an example of calling the WinCE API.

I'm using the cmonex aygshell (16.5kb) in directory 4 from this download:
https://web.archive.org/web/20141204174755/http://hpcmonex.net/izemi...
I've been able to save and load some bbc basic program in plain ascii format.

The window is full screen but text wraps at half screen width since its a pocketpc application. Also its best to auto hide taskbar as the menus are at bottom of screen. Have fun!
