Description |
PURPOSE:
This program will allow you to edit static host name/IP address mappings in your Windows Powered Pocket PC or Handheld PC, which is the equivalent of writing a HOSTS file on a desktop PC.
SUPPORTED DEVICES:
- Pocket PC 2000 (SH3, MIPS, ARM), Pocket PC 2002 (ARM, XScale) - Handheld PC 2000 (MIPS, ARM)
Emulator.zip contains executables for both the Pocket PC 2000 and 2002 Emulators (for application developers only).
HISTORY:
New in version 1.01: - support for enabling/disabling mappings - the command bar is now activated, so that the SIP menu is always shown - import function for standard desktop HOSTS file
New in version 1.5: - shipping with CAB installer - the user interface was changed to a list with checkboxes
USAGE:
When you run Pocket Hosts, you will see a list of hosts (usually it's empty when you start using the program) and two entry fields. Type a host name and its IP address (in the common format "n.n.n.n" with n being digits) into the fields and tap the "Add" button to add the mapping.
If you change the IP address, simply tap "Add" again to save the change. If you change the host name and tap "Add", a new entry is created and you can delete the original entry with the "Remove" button.
If you tap "Remove", the host whose name is currently displayed in the host name edit field is deleted. If you want to be sure to delete the right host, simply tap the desired host in the list before tapping the button.
You can tap any host shown in the list to select it and copy its information into the entry fields.
The "Import" button allows you to import a HOSTS file in the common desktop PC format. Put the file into the root folder of your device and tap "Import". You can safely delete the file after this step as the information has been moved to the registry.
You can use the checkbox before the individual host names to quickly enable or disable an entry. |
