| If i buy http://cgi.ebay.com/Linksys-Wireless-B-Notebook-Adapter-2-4GHz_W0QQitemZ230154138210QQihZ013QQcategoryZ45000QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem then what would be required to use it on my MobilePro 880. I mean first, would that work at all. Its the B, which i know is required, but i dont know about the other requirements. Second, what is needed to make one of those work? Drivers? plug in and use? Internet explorer setup?
THanks | |

Nope. There is absolutely zero chance of getting that to work on any CE device.
I refer you to the local support doc on the WPC11.
On version 4 of that card, which is the one the auction is for, Linksys both switched the chipset they used, and changed it from a 16-bit PCMCIA card, which Handheld PCs can use, to a 32-bit CardBus card, which will not work in any model of Handheld PC.

If he's not lying about the mislabeling, this guy's card would work. This Linksys card would work with the drivers/"hack" mentioned in the HPC:Factor thread I listed above, as well.

| Great thanks for the help. Now one more question that poped into my head. Will all makes of these wireless adapters work together. Im running a Linksys-G, which i think also will work with the B, just slower (If this isnt right, and it wont work, please tell me ). ANd will my linksys work with Netgear, Orinoco, etc.
What about this card... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160140668535&rd=1&rd=1 .
or this. its ending soon http://cgi.ebay.com/Linksys-Wireless-PCMCIA-WPC11-v3-802-11b_W0QQitemZ180140670872QQihZ008QQcategoryZ74954QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemEdited by shortytmet55 2007-07-24 7:35 PM

802.11g routers are backwards-compatible, which means that an 802.11b card will indeed work on them, just slower, running at only 11 Mbps. Brand isn't an issue - as long as it's all 802.11, it'll work. In fact, I run with mixed brands at home and at work just fine.

Considering my NEC MobilePro 880 has one plugged into it right now, I'd have to say, "yes, yes it will."

Should work fine. See the link mentioned above on the tweaks you need to get it to work, though. Edited by SirThoreth 2007-07-24 7:48 PM

| By the way, another good source for network cards, accessories, or even PDAs, is here on the site, in the hpcBay section. | |

| SirThoreth, if i get that same one as you, what do i need to make it work. Like does it need drivers (where do i get them )?, and what setup is required to run Internet explorer with this card or any one.
Finally, what is a good price for the Netgear MA401 card? http://cgi.ebay.com/Netgear-MA-401-802-11b-Wireless-network-PC-Card-PCMCIA_W0QQitemZ150144580043QQihZ005QQcategoryZ74954QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem is that a good price for a new one.

You need to use the Prism chipset drivers for Windows CE 2.11. They can be found on this page, here on the site:
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/h/0028.asp
There are two different drivers under Windows CE 2.11 - either one of those should suffice. I can't remember which of the two I used off the top of my head.

I got mine for $25 off Amazon.com, so, yeah, I'd say that's a good price.
