As with any server, placing this on a public IP address is only advised if you are sure that you understand the security and bandwidth consequences of running the service. FTP on its own is an insecure protocol and this implementation lacks many standard security features. Please keep this in mind when using this program.

You definitely shouldn't be using this on a public network as this will just share your entire filesystem with no password or encryption whatsoever

Cryptic. My guess would be that it doesn't support basic authentication and connections timeout after 10 min?
